About me

Having spent most of my working life, listening to people, I am very good at quickly developing a relationship and being able to assess what is of greatest value to individuals and families. These skills have been further enhanced when I embarked in training and a career path in Counselling. As a Counsellor I am able to be empathic as well as being aware that there is a purpose for the nature of this work, and I am there to guide my clients on their way to making changes.

I was born and raised in Kingsthorpe, Northampton so I have a rich understanding of local life and how things were, thanks to my elderly parents family stories, that date back to the start of the 20th Century.

As a hobby, I have always enjoyed performing in local amateur dramatics. I belong to a local Musical Theatre Company and have been lucky enough to have sung, danced and acted, over the years, at Northampton’s Derngate and Royal Theatre’s, The Cripps Hall Theatre and Spinney Hill Hall. I have a love for reading out loud and regularly receive positive feedback for my speaking voice, people feel they are “drawn in” by what I am saying.

I obtained my Diploma in Funeral Celebrancy with Civil Ceremonies Ltd. This means I have an extensive knowledge of poems, readings and music that are appropriate for a funeral service. I am a lifelong Christian so am very familiar with being involved in Church services that sometimes have a sense of occasion or are at the other end of the scale, and are times of reflection.

I am happy to conduct funerals that involve some religion or faith or none whatsoever. I will always be led by what the family want me to deliver.

I am a member of The Association of Independent Celebrants and abide by The Funeral Celebrant Accord.
